Gary Bannan Obituary

It is with broken hearts the family announces the passing of Gary Douglas Bannan (Bandit) on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Gary was born in Saint John on September 28, 1947. He was son of the late Wilfred Joseph Bannan (1912-1974) and Hazel (Delaney) Bannan (1920-1989)

Gary will be dearly missed by his family and oh so many friends, especially his biking buddies and Veterans, whom he loved very much. He was a very kind person and knew a lot of people. He was a fisherman by heart and worked at the Saint John Port most of his life. He was also a part of the Laborers Union.

His favorite past time was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. His favorite place to be was on his deck watching the boats go up and down the Saint John River by the Reversing Falls. The birds and deer always came to see him and say HI.

He is survived by his sisters Betty (Bob) Fergus of Grand Bay - Westfield, Cindy (Rob) Goguen of Saint John, Diana (Bruce) White of South Bay; his brothers Wilfred Joseph Bannan (Marina) of Ottawa, Donald (Pat) Bannan of Saint John; brother-in-law Malcolm (late Lorraine) Hughes Wilberforce, ON, Bert (late Margaret) Plourde of Saint John.

He is also survived by his children; Lori Sivret, Tammy Martin, Aimee Duplessis, Sabrina Bannan, Josh and Kyle. He has four grandchildren: Samantha Miller, Alissa Martin, Matthew Martin and Makayla Duplessis. There are three great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road. As per Gary’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Further celebrations will be announced via Facebook. He also hoped that his friends would go for a ride and think of him. Gary was an animal lover so those looking to remember Gary, a donation to an animal shelter would be appreciated.
