Garth Rigby Black

It is with sadness but a sense of peace that we announce the passing of Garth Rigby Black on November 17, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Woodstock, NB, on August 3, 1934, to the late Lewis “Dick” and Marjorie (Lee) Black and was the loving husband of 67 years to Violet (Watson) Black.

In addition to his wife, Violet, he is survived by his daughter Sarah (Ernest) Thompson; 2 adored grandchildren, Gareth and Jennifer; sisters, Marjorie “Sookie” Dunton, Nancilee Black and Deborah Black; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sons, Lewis “Dick” and Donald Garth; and his brothers, L. Dick and J. Michael.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424).   In keeping with Garth’s wishes, no visitation or funeral services will be held.   For those who wish, memorial donations in his memory to the Church of the Resurrection in Grand Bay- Westfield, Red Cross Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
