It is with heavy hearts the family of Frederick James Lavigne announces his passing which occurred on Monday, December 6, 2021. Born in La Tuque, Quebec, on December 16, 1950 he was the son of the late Victor and Edna (Madore) Lavigne. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Paul and David and brother-in-law Terry Rorke.
Fred also known as Fearless Fred or Fast Fred, worked at the Saint John Dry Dock as a Machine Operator for many years. He also worked for the Fundy Trail Parkway before retiring.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Fred loved to cook for his family, listening to his country music and going for drives. He will be missed by several friends.
He is survived by his twins Mishell Lavigne and Mike Lavigne (Keri Ann Dallon); his siblings Rick Lavigne, Daniel Lavigne, Debbie Rorke, Lillian Jackson (Wayne), Laura Morrison (John), Victor Lavigne JR. (Debbie) and Peter Lavigne (Stacey); his friend Carol; cherished grandchildren Crissy Lavigne, Jordon Lavigne and Jayden Lavigne; great granddaughter Addilynn Miller-Lavigne; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, Saint John (646-2424) on Thursday, December 9 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. His funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 10 at 2 p.m. A private family interment will take place in St. Williams Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of Fred may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation; the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
