Frederick Hopey Obituary

The family of Frederick Charles Hopey, loving husband of Betty Christina (Bannon), Hopey, sadly announce his passing which occurred on July 19, 2020. Born in Saint John on February 10, 1937 he was the son of the late Harry and Connie (Melvin) Hopey.

He was a Pipe-Fitter by trade, working with Saint John Ship Building Ltd. until his retirement. Fred was very proud of building warships for the Royal Canadian Navy. He was an active and dedicated member of River Valley Wesleyan Church. Fred loved to study history, the Bible and enjoyed discussions of these subjects. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Besides his wife he is survived by his son Derek (Debra) of Halifax, his daughter Kelly Culm of Saint John, brother Terry (Lynn) Hopey of Saint John, grandchildren Jay and Dillon, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents Fred was predeceased by his son Richard (Ricky), his daughter Chrissie and sister Gloria Kidd.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John. At his request, following cremation the service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 11:00am from the Fundy Funeral home Chapel . For those who wish, remembrances can be made to the River Valley Wesleyan Church or the Saint John SPCA - Animal Rescue League.
