It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick Kenneth Brown at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 18, 2023. Born in Saint John, Fred was a son of the late Harold and Loretta (Joyce) Brown. "Poor Fred" was a very private man who loved his family and being at home surrounded by them. He enjoyed old western movies and landscaping, and was always eager and happy to help out. He had volunteered with Beavers & Cubs, and had coached baseball and hockey. A journeyman welder by trade, he was employed at Ocean Steel for almost 40 years. Fred was very involved with his union; he was a past President of the Iron Workers Local 809 in Saint John and was a senior member of the Pension Committee. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Catherine (Gould) Brown; his son Peter Brown (Pamela) of Fredericton; his brothers: Ronnie of NB, Harold (Elaine) of Saint John, and Michael (Sandra) of Rothesay; his sisters: Joyce Bugg of Alberta, Patricia Brown, Phyllis McGrath, Catherine Coes (Don), Linda Brown and Geraldine O'Hara (Don) all of Saint John; his precious grandchildren: Olivia and Lily; as well as by many extended family members and good friends. Besides his parents, Fred was predeceased by his brother Gordon and his sisters: Mary Powers, Margaret Conway. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (506-646-2424). The funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. MASKS ARE RECOMMENDED WHILE ATTENDING THE FUNERAL SERVICE.
