Freda V. Adair

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Freda Vonita Adair, which occurred on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on January 6th, 1959, in Sussex, NB, she is the daughter of the late Delbert and Ina (Gray) Adair. 

Freda worked at Sobeys in Rothesay for many years. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, Golden Age Hollywood sitcoms such as I Love Lucy, and never missed an episode of her favourite reality TV shows. A devoted animal lover, she adored her cats and spoiled them endlessly. She was always quick with a quip, possessing a quiet wit and sharp humour that inspired a great many stories still shared today by friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Freda is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Mark Bourque; daughter Andrea Adair (Karl Campbell) of New Denmark; brother Jack Adair (Sue Fry-Adair) of Sussex; sisters Ann Flynn (Russell) of Saint John, Debbie Forsythe, and Angie Adair both of Sussex; granddaughter Ocean Adair; her darling cats, Tigger & Lucy; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.  Along with her parents, Freda was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter Ivy Adair, brother Greg Adair, and sister Bonnie Payne.     

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) with visitation being held on Saturday, June 6th, from 12 to 2 p.m.  A Memorial Service will follow in the Fundy chapel beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date.  Donations in memory of Freda may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation, The Lung Association, or to Red Head Strays.
