Fred E. Sharkey

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Frederick Edward Sharkey which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on Thursday, December 1st, 2022.  Born 1940, in Montreal, he is the son of the late Fred and Dorothy (Harley) Sharkey.  Fred worked for the School Board for many years throughout his career.  He enjoyed sitting in his yard, having a Moosehead and listening to his radio.  Fred loved to mow everyone’s lawn in his neighborhood and he especially loved gardening.  He could be found at the Jervis Bay Legion on Friday nights, spending time with his many friends.

Fred is survived by his daughter Margo Eatmon (Irvine) of Barnesville; sons Fred Sharkey of Saint John, Tait Sharkey of British Columbia; sisters Jeanette Sharkey, Ann Whalen, Dorothy Soucy (Gilbert), Lorraine Sharkey, Carolyn Smith (David) all of Saint John; brothers Eugene Ritchie, Harold Sharkey (Lynn), Gary Sharkey all of Saint John; grandchildren Scott, Jason, Jillian, Tamara, Joey, Kaitlynn, Lucas and Tait; great grandchildren Gavin, Ben, Jaxon, Bailey, Serenity, Miguel, Liberty, Hunter, Alex, Mackenzie, Lainie and Greylynn; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.  Along with his parents, Fred was predeceased by his wife Edna and grandson Irvine. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  A Celebration of Life will take place at Jervis Bay Legion (1016 Bayside Drive) on Monday, December 5th at 4 p.m.  Donations in memory of Fred may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
