Fraser Richardson Obituary

Fraser George Richardson, born February 28, 1934, in Hartland, NB, passed into the arms of his loving Saviour on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Embassy Hall in Quispamsis, NB.

Loving father to son Kevin (Kimberly) Richardson and daughter Kelly McLellan.  Adored grandfather to Nathaniel (Roebi), Isaac, and Ethan (Whitney) McLellan and great grandfather to Kevin and Alfred McLellan.  Beloved brother to David (Glenna) Richardson and brother-in-law to Harold Shanks.  A dear uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Nellie Richardson, his wife Ruth Esther Richardson (Mawhinney), sister Eleanor Richardson, sisters-in-law Elsie Shanks, Irene Mawhinney, and Inez Mawhinney, brothers-in-law Ralph and Milford Mawhinney, and son-in-law Kerry McLellan.

Being married for 59 years, Fraser and Ruth were inseparable.  Fraser loved and cherished his immediate and extended family, always enjoying time spent together as close friends.  His devotion was evident in so many ways towards all.  Over the years, his role as protector, husband, and father brought him great joy.  As a grandfather, he was a steadfast mentor and role model.  He dearly loved teaching, directing, and spoiling “the boys”.

Fraser loved the outdoors.  Hunting, fishing, camping, picking berries, and spending time in Maces Bay at his trailer, while roaming the beaches with his children and grandchildren, brought him great pleasure.

Fraser worked as a typesetter his whole life, starting at the Observer in Hartland prior to transitioning to The Telegraph Journal and the Evening Times Globe in Saint John.  Retiring in the early nineties from his desk job, he went onto help his son Kevin at Renforth Construction as a loader operator.  After sitting for many years behind a typewriter, he welcomed the fresh air and opportunity to play in the dirt.

A member of Forest Hills Baptist Church, he loved the Lord in his quiet, gentle, and confident manner.  Fraser’s love for hymns was evident through his many hours of watching the Gaither’s Homecoming and listening to his dear Ruth play the piano in their home.

A special heartfelt thank you to the staff at Embassy Hall in Quispamsis.  Their love and care for Fraser over the past two years has been beyond measure as he was truly treated like family.
