Frank Myers Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frank Barclay Myers, a devoted father, beloved brother, and cherished friend. Frank passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on Friday, May 30, 2025, after battling with cancer, at the age of 71.

Born on August 22, 1953 in St. Catherines, Ontario, Frank was the son of the late Lloyd and Cecile (Gobiel) Myers.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly (Chapman) Myers, with whom he shared 33 wonderful years of marriage.

Frank was a proud and loving father to four children: Victoria McGuire (Mark), William ‘Billy’ (Nancy Bonilla), Mary (Lisa Gingrich), and Craig (Emily McDonald), who survive him and keep alive the hardworking spirit, laughter, and love that defined his presence in their lives. He was also a devoted grandfather to Mackenzie, Charlie, Connor, and Milow. His family was his greatest joy, and he took immense pride in guiding, supporting, and celebrating each of them throughout their lives.

Frank will be greatly missed by his younger sister Irene McGuire (late David). He was preceded in death by his older sister Mary Heggtveit (Gib), and older brothers Preston and Stephen (Lisa).

Frank’s life as a husband and father was defined by love, loyalty, and the deep affection he shared with his family. He lived a rich and varied life, often entertaining friends and loved ones with stories—from winning dog sled races as a boy to navigating the Great Lakes as Chief Officer. Frank was proud to be part of the first graduating class of Fire Prevention Officers at the Ontario Fire College and went on to retire as Chief Fire Prevention Officer with the Orangeville Fire Department after 35 years of service. Known for his easy charm and ability to make friends wherever he went, Frank enjoyed hosting parties, fishing, spending time outdoors, tackling hands-on projects and good-looking women.

As your expression of sympathy, donations to the ALS Society of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia would be appreciated and can be made online at https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/3421. This was Frank’s wish, in honour of his wife’s courageous battle with the illness.

Frank will be remembered as many things including partner, father, grandfather, friend, firefighter, and the Wizard. He will be greatly missed.
