Francis Merton Long

It is with great sadness the family of Francis Long announces his passing on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Born on June 28, 1941 in Belleisle Creek, NB, he was the son of the late Frank and Eva (Darling) Long.

In addition to his loving wife Dolores of 55 years, Francis is survived by his daughter Karen Ouellette (Brian) of Quispamsis, Stephen (Calgary), and Darren (Saint John), grandchildren Chris Ouellette (Heidi) of Toronto, Kendra Brown (Tim) of Quispamsis, Kalina Ouellette of St. Catharines, and miracle great-grandson Jacob Brown.

He is also survived by his sister Marion Frail (Ron) of Toronto, brothers, Bob (Louise) of Salt Springs, Raymond (Deby) of Saint John, sister-in-law Muriel Long, brothers-in-law Mike Kelly and Gib Doucette (Shirley), many loving nieces, nephews, and close friends.

He was predeceased by his sisters Florence Keirstead, Elva Morrell, Treva MacLeod, Shirley Somerville, Judy Kelly, and brothers Wib and Burt.

Francis was a true Toronto Maple Leafs fan and loved country music. One of his fondest memories was an amazing cross Canada trip with the love of his life and close friends. Crib and game times with family and friends were the highlight of his days. He will be greatly missed by all.

Due to the current global pandemic, visitation or service will not be held at this time. Interment will be held at a later date.

For those who wish, donations In Francis’ memory may be made to Palliative Care Unit, Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the memorial of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home.
