Florence Quinn Obituary

Florence Quinn, 87, died on May 19, 2023 peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Florence was born August 29, 1935 in Saint John.  She was the daughter of Joseph and Alma (Travis) Vaughan.  Florence had two sisters (predeceased) Vera Doucette and Julia Rouse and one brother (also predeceased) Harold Vaughan and is survived by her brother Ronald Vaughan of Victoria, B.C.  She married her husband Michael Quinn and they were blessed with four children, Helen, Michael, Noel and Paul.  Florence found much joy in spending time with her children cooking, teaching them the small pleasures in life and to appreciate nature.  She had a heart for animals, especially cats, dogs and horses.  She was an avid seamstress and took great pride in some of her creations.  She loved to play all kinds of games, especially dice, although many would say she was a master at cheating, which she of course denied :).  She truly valued what little possessions she had and took much care of her collection of cats and numerous knicknacks.  Florence moved to Seely Lodge Special Care Home in Martinon after the death of her husband.  She settled into her new home and became part of the family there.

She was loved by many and brought a special kind of spunk and sparkle to the home that will be fondly remembered.  She had a special relationship with the dog and cat in the home and always made sure to buy treats for them on 'store day' so she could show them her love.  She could be found on many occasions in the backyard waiting for the deer to come out of the woods at the lodge.  While watching her you honestly would think she called them to her.  Florence has several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed her visits with her special friends Edith and Raymond and also her special niece Annabel.

According to her wishes there will be no visiting but a small private service will be held at Seely Lodge at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, Florence requested donations to be sent to the SPCA Saint John.
