It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected yet peaceful passing of Gertrude Evelyn (Cline) Hachey on September 5th, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was born in Campobello Island on May 10th, 1946, to the late Prince and Helen (Allingham) Cline.
Evelyn, in her younger days, worked for the General Hospital, the Protestant orphan home, and lastly with Jim’s Signs until retirement with her husband Jim. She met her husband Jim in December of 1970, they married on May 28th, 1977, until death did them part. She made over the years many great memories with Jim, family, and friends. Evelyn loved to travel, camp, skiddoo, and most of all listen to her favorite country music on a daily basis. She was absolutely crazy about lighthouses. She truly enjoyed and watched many sports shows, Hope for Wildlife, and all kinds of nature shows. She even got to visit Hope for Wildlife Musquodoboit Harbour, NS, where she got a picture with Hope.
Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Prince and Helen, her brothers Bernard, Albert, and Prince jr, sister Lavonia (Vonnie), and husband James. Evelyn leaves behind her sister Alison, her very special niece Dawn Marie Hachey and special nephew Billy Thomas, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, as well as her fur-baby little Jimmy and his sidekick Bear.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, a graveside service will be held on September 28, 2025, at 12:15PM in St. Anne’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Campobello Island. A reception will follow at the church hall. Donations can be made to Redhead Strays or a charity of the donors choice.
