Ellsworth Yearwood Obituary

It is with great sadness the family of Ellsworth (Buster) Yearwood announces his passing on January 4, 2020.  Born April 10, 1927, he was the son of the late Hugh and Susie (Craft) Yearwood.  Buster worked for CN Rail retiring in 1986.   Buster was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years Sadie in 2010.  In 1990 he became “Papa” and for the past 30 years he loved nothing more than following and supporting his grandchildren’s (Adam & Erin) activities wherever the road took them, and proudly being there for every milestone in their lives.  Besides his love for and time spent with family, Buster’s greatest passions in life were watching hockey and baseball, bowling, horses, buying & selling cars and WWE wrestling from the days of Hulk Hogan & Randy Macho Man Savage to today’s Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns.  He bowled one of the first 400 triples at the old Fundy Lanes (with wooden pins as he would remind you), bowled in many Men’s Provincial Bowling Championships and ran the CN Pensioners bowling league for over 30 years.

Buster is survived by his children Paul (Pam), Terry (Cindy), MaryElla Buckley (Marshall) and Cathy Wallace (Paul); grandchildren Adam (Chelsey) and Erin Buckley, great granddaughter Rylee several brother in laws and sister in laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.  Besides his wife Sadie he was predeceased by his three sisters Catherine (Sis), Beatrice (Bea) and Ella along with his special companion Mable Little.

Following cremation, visitations will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Monday January 6th from 2-4 and 6-8.  Funeral Service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday January 7th at 9:30am.  Interment to follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.

Remembrances made to the Saint John SPCA would be appreciated.

The Family would like to take this opportunity to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Patrick Maloney and Marlene for all your care and special attention given to Buster, the team (Jill & Darlene) at Riley’s Homecare, the Crew at Fairview Bowling Lanes for always looking out for him especially Stephen Dempster for his cherished long time friendship, and to his good friend Bruce for all your visits at home and in the hospital for a game of crib.
