It is with deep sadness that the family of Ellen Faye Brennan announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on October 10, 1934, in Old Town, Maine, Ellen was the daughter of the late Harold and Veniene (Grant) Osgood.
Ellen shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Donald Brennan, who predeceased her. Ellen was living in Vanceboro, Maine when she met Donald. They settled in McAdam, NB, upon marriage.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her sons, Glen (Tamra) Brennan and Daniel (Tracy) Brennan; her daughter, Heidi (Greg) Hanlon; and her beloved sister, Kathleen (Paul) McCrae, whom Ellen loved and embraced as a daughter throughout her life. She was also a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren, a treasured great-grandmother to several great-grandchildren, sister in-law Lemerle Osgood and will be fondly remembered by many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ellen was predeceased by her daughters, Veniene Regenbogen, Susan Hickey, and infant daughter Margaret Brennan; her sister, Margaret (Cal) Moore; and her brothers, Harold Osgood, Fred (Harriett) Osgood, Donald Osgood, and Eugene (Aloma) Osgood.
It was in McAdam, New Brunswick, where her competitive spirit and love of sports began to flourish. Before becoming a respected high school coach, she officiated sporting events as a referee, paving the way with confidence and determination.
An avid athlete throughout her life, Ellen could often be found enjoying a day on the golf course, but it was curling that truly captured her heart. Her dedication to the sport led her to several provincial senior ladies championships and becoming a two-time Canadian Ladies Masters Curling Champion, an accomplishment that remained a source of pride for both herself and her family. In 2024, Ellen was inducted into the Curling New Brunswick Hall of Fame.
Above all else, Ellen's greatest joy was her family. She treasured every moment spent with those she loved and was happiest when surrounded by children, grandchildren, and friends. A woman of deep faith, she was devoted to her daily prayers, finding strength, comfort, and gratitude in her unwavering relationship with God.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the physicians, nurses, and staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital Emergency Department for the compassionate care shown to Ellen during her final days.
