Eldon Cecil Beckett

The sisters and brothers of Eldon Cecil Beckett sadly announce his unexpected passing on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at his home in Oak Point. Born on June 27, 1970, he was the son of the late Waldo and Helen (Kirk) Beckett.

Eldon is survived by his sisters, Linda and Joyce (Freeman), brothers Malcolm (Laura), David, Henry (Lynn), Roy (Kimberley), thirteen nieces and nephews, and twelve great-nieces and nephews.

Eldon lived at home all of his life with his best friends, Mum and Dad. When Dad died in 2004 Eldon became Mum’s right-hand man for everything around the house and beyond. When Mum died in 2018 he never quite got over her loss, frequently expressing his sadness, how he missed her, and how things were just not the same. Eldon was a gentle giant, with a gentle and quiet presence. He loved his newspaper in the morning, his puzzles, watching wrestling on TV, and especially his daily trips to Tim’s for “a tea and muffin”. He was a member of the Browns Flat Baptist Church, having served on the Board of Deacons as well as in other capacities.

The sadness that we all feel at his death is lessened by the fact that he had a simple, uncomplicated faith in Jesus, and that today he is with him, and with Mum and Dad. We can only imagine how happy he is right now. Thank you, Eldon, for being our brother and teaching us so many things. Enjoy your new life. Until we see you next time!

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424). Visitation will take place at the Browns Flat Baptist Church, 1 Beulah Road, Browns Flat, NB on Thursday, February 16 from 3:00-8:00 pm., with the funeral service at the church on Friday, February 17 at 2:00 pm.  Memorial donations can be made to the Browns Flat Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
