Edward McNeil Obituary

It is with sadness in our hearts that the family announces the passing of Edward Dennis Alan McNeil, loving husband to Lois (Watson) McNeil. Ed left this world on July 11,2020 to be with his Lord and Saviour. Born in Windsor,NS on October 23,1945, he was the son of the late Mildred and Wilfred “Ted” McNeil.

Edward served with the Royal Canadian Navy as a Seaman for many years before joining the Canadian Coast Guard. Ed was a gentle giant who touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was always sharing a laugh or a story with his loud booming voice to all he encountered. He was a man true to himself, who never shied away from a good debate and was always ready to talk. He had a heart for God and his family and we were so very blessed to call him Husband, Dad,Grampie and friend. He also was very thankful for his church family at Fundamental Baptist. Thank you for all the laughs, for all the joy and for all of the love that you have given to us all. Until we meet again.

Ed is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lois as well as his sons Stephen (Susan) McNeil, Lower Sackville; James (Fleur ) McNeil, Eastern Passage; and daughter Melanie (Colin) Renault, Saint John grandchildren Brandon (Brittany), Noah, Hannah and Elijah, brothers Donald (Rosa) McNeil, Halifax; Peter McNeil, Weymouth sister Mary McNutt, as well as many brothers and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Ed was predeceased by his mother Mildred Esther McNeil, father Wilfred McNeil, brothers Lloyd, Charles and Raymond McNeil, sister Heather McNeil and many members of his extended family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John. At his request following cremation there will not be any visitation or service. For those who wish, remembrances can be made to the Fundamental Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.

Ed wishes to be remembered in a laugh or a smile.
