Edmund Leroy McDermott

McDermott, Edmund Leroy - The death of Edmund Leroy McDermott, of Veteran's Court, Saint John, husband of Vera (Bates) McDermott occurred suddenly on Wednesday, March 29, 2000 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Wardlow Thomas and Marie (Albert) McDermott. He had been employed as Sexton with St. Luke's Anglican Church for over ten years before his retirement. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Educational Bursaries. He was a willing volunteer at both St. Luke's Church and the Legion helping out wherever he could. Besides his wife, Vera he is survived by three sons, Edmund Jr. of Ontario, Brian (Kimberley) of Saint John, daughters, Sharon Vandermee (Jeffery) of Ontario and Sherrie Ryer (William) of Oromocto; two brothers, Frank (Lillian) and John (Doris) all of Saint John; and sister, Evangeline Kerr (Jack) of Ontario, ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Edmund was predeceased by two sisters, Louise and Lorraine.

By Edmund's request there is to be no visitation or funeral service. If desired donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) entrusted with arrangements.
