Edith Louise Johnston

Surrounded by her loving family, we wish to announce the passing of Edith Louise Johnston which occurred on Monday, December 22nd, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, at the age of 73. Born on September 17, 1952, Edith was the daughter of the late Herbert and Gertrude (Rodgerson) Beech.

Edith leaves behind her devoted husband of 54 years, Hugh; her children, Michael Johnston (Dawn) and Tammy Johnston (Scott); her cherished granddaughter, Ainsley; and her beloved canine companion, Lily, along with her special boy, Wilson. She is also survived by her sisters, Pam LeBlanc (Brian), Debbie Morrell (Doug), and Gail Mercer (Anthony), as well as several nieces and nephews.

A natural caregiver, Edith was often described as the world’s best wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known as the aunt who would do anything for anyone, always welcoming others with an open door and an open heart. Edith found joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time outdoors, feeling the sand beneath her toes, and relaxing at the Bay with Bev, Krista, and Maia. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the S.I.C.U. at Saint John Regional Hospital for the care and kindness shown to Edith and our family throughout her stay.

A celebration of Edith’s life will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. from the Fundy Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations towards a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
