It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Earl Vincent Doyle, which occurred on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Bobby’s Hospice with family by his side. Born on July 26, 1939 in Savage Harbour, PEI to the late Barbara and Elisha Doyle.
Earl moved from PEI to Saint John back in 1958 to pursue work. He initially found work at the Refinery and then moved into the construction industry for many years working with companies including J.A. Likely’s, Slattery’s and Grove Construction. He then decided to hit the books, obtained his GED and became a Red Seal Pipefitter which landed him work at Saint John Ship Building and then with Local 213 Pipefitters Union. Earl was a well-respected hard worker and made many friends throughout his career.
Aside from his working career, Earl was a jack of all trades and the go-to for his children if they ever needed help. He was always willing to lend a helping hand whether it was with their vehicles, building houses and decks, or plumbing repairs, he was there to save the day.
Earl’s main passion was spending time with his family but, he also loved playing a tune on the guitar, taking a drive to the camp, hunting and fishing (with Joan of course).
He spent countless hours being his children’s biggest fan at their sporting events traveling as far as BC and places in between to take in the action and in many cases coached their hockey and ball teams.
Earl is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Joan (Guay) of 67 years; and children, Sandra Gibbon (Bud) and Colleen, Kathleen Barton (Royce) and Emily, Paula Smith (Ken), Lauren and Leah (Zach Balemans), Brian (Renee) Tyler (Maggie Stewart) and Teagan, Beverly (Tony Stevens); He will be sadly missed by sister, Anne Noonan, sisters-in law, Florence Verner, Irene Doyle, Margie Guay and Pauline Doyle; and many relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Earl was predeceased by his first-born son, Bernie, sisters Ethel, Veronica Helen, Mary and brothers Ernie, Ronnie, Alphonse, Bernie, John A., Gerald and Leonard.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saint John Heart Function Clinic, Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of donors choice.
