Douglas Gibbon MacKenzie, born December 12th, 1938, in Saint John NB, son of the late William Henry MacKenzie and the late Ruth A (Campbell) MacKenzie, passed away peacefully, on October 2, 2018 at Kennebec Manor, Saint John, NB. Doug was predeceased by his wife Dorothy A (Hannah) MacKenzie.
Doug worked for Downey Ford for 30 plus years, retiring in 2001, from a career that he had taken much pride in and enjoyed immensely. He was an avid hockey fan, favouring the New York Rangers. Doug summered in the Cambridge Narrows, at Wally’s Campground, for several decades, prizing family time with his children, then ultimately his grandchildren.
Survived by his brother Murray MacKenzie and sister Kathleen MacKenzie. Children Donald, Debbie (Fred) McCluskey, and David (Donna) . Grandchildren Brad McCluskey, Laurie MacKenzie, Ryan McCluskey, Sabrina Walker, Jake Bastarache and Spencer Bastarache. Great Grand children Landen McCluskey and Nolan McCluskey.
The family would like to offer, a heart felt Thank You, to the staff of Kennebec Manor for their kind, generous care of their father, during his residence there. The integrity and professionalism they demonstrated, was always admirable.
As per his wishes, there will be no service, or visitation. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances made to Kennebec Manor, or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
