Douglas Fairbrother Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Douglas Charles Fairbrother announces his passing on Thursday, April 18th, 2024, at the St. John Regional Hospital. He died at the age of 66. Born in Hampton, New Brunswick, on April 21st, 1957, he was the son of the late Charles and Bernice Fairbrother.

Doug fought his battle against cancer for 9 years. Throughout his entire journey, he maintained a positive attitude, which served him well. In August of 2019, he received a prognosis of 6 months to 2 years.

In 1977, Doug married the love of his life, Tina Fairbrother. Together for 46 years, they nurtured a family that would grow to include three sons: Corey, Keith, and Adam, and grandchildren Anna, Aiden, and Alieas. Doug's legacy is carried on through his family, whom he loved with every fiber of his being.

Doug was a self-taught renovation king. We moved into our current home in May of 2004. Every year since, he has taken on projects to make it better. He has infused every corner of our home with his loving touch. Additionally, his devotion extended beyond our walls as he generously assisted his son Corey with their home renovations.

His family was the only thing Doug loved more than renovations. He cherished moments he shared with his sons talking hockey, and enjoying Toronto Maple Leafs games together. His sons will also miss their dad's famous homemade hot dog pizza.

Doug was "Papa" to his grandchildren. They brought him such joy in every way. He enjoyed activities with them, such as swimming, kayaking, skating, basketball, going to the movies, and bike riding. Doug set up a pickleball court in his driveway where he taught his children, grandchildren, and anyone else who wanted to learn how to play. Doug converted half our garage into a Game Room for his family.

Doug will be remembered as a hard-working family man. His memory is honored and kept alive by his loving wife Tina, his children Corey (Alyson), Keith, and Adam, his sisters Diane Shillington and Wanda Russel, his brothers Greg and Kevin Fairbrother, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, friends, and colleagues.

Along with his parents he was predeceased by grandparents: Robert and Mary Darrell, and Gertrude and Thomas Fairbrother.
