Doris Ferris Obituary

The family of Doris Ferris (Marie Adele Doris Landry) sadly announce her passing on January 26, 2024, at the age of 86.  She was the daughter of the late Cladora and George Landry.  She is survived by her children Sheila Marcotte of Mahone Bay, NS, Alan (Kelly) Ferris of Rothesay, NB and Melissa (Chris) Ferris of Red Head, NB.  She is the proud grandmother of Sean (Shannon) Vincent of Mahone Bay, NS, Dylan Kelly of Calgary, AB, and Christian Kelly of Shediac, NB; and great-grandmother of Kennedi Vincent of Montreal, QC, Kale Vincent of Mahone Bay, NS and her special companion Clifford the dog.  She will also be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, the late John “Jack” Ferris, her infant son Michael and son Bobo, her brother Gerald Landry, her sister Irma Shaver, her sisters-in-law Lois Beshara, Muriel Breau and Eva Myers and her brother-in-law Bubby “Willard” Cawley and son-in-law Tony Marcotte.

Mom was a stay at home mother until the age of 41. When she decided to work outside of the home, she belonged to the house wives 300 bowling league for many years.  She loved to dance, she could step dance, clog, and square dance.  She worked at the Loch Lomond Villa, retired from there and then went to Walmart as a cashier until she retired at the age of 73.

We the family would like to thank Debra MacGillivary, her long time friend for all she has done for our family; you’re and Angel, please know how much we appreciate you.  Mom loved you like a daughter.  Gail, thank you for your visits and all the treats you brought mom.  Krista, thank you for coming and making sure mom’s nails were perfect for her next journey.  Debbie Alexander, thank you for doing mom’s hair, it had to be perfect to meet dad. Esther thank you for taking mom under your wing and taking her to Hampton and surrounding square dances.  Nelson Getson, thank you for all your visits, teas, treats, stories and laughs, she loved it all.

Bobby’s Hospice and to everyone who works there you are amazing.  We can’t name you all, you are all Angels.  Mom told us every day how lucky she was to be there and if you had to be anywhere, Bobby’s Hospice was the place to be.  She got her wish. Dr. Ashley Wood, words cannot express how well you looked after mom, she loved you and told us often how good you were to her and dad.  If we have missed anyone please forgive us.
