Doreen Mary (Gallant) McDonald

It is with heavy hearts the family of Doreen Mary McDonald, wife of the late Raymond McDonald, announces her passing which occurred on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the St. John St. Stephen Nursing Home, surrounded by her family.
Born in Tignish, PEI on July 24, 1934 she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Martin) Gallant.  In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her first husband Calvin Hovey; son Ralph Hovey; siblings George Gallant, Harold Gallant, Howard Gallant, Rosie Gogan, Rita Gallant, Doris Kenny, Irene Cripps and Helen Bonnell.

Doreen’s greatest joys were spending time with her family, grandchildren and smoking cigarettes.

She is survived by her children Rita Jarvis (Greg), Terry Hovey (Gail), Stephanie Dow (Jason Morrell) and Pam (McDonald) Kehoe; grandchildren Kari Jarvis, Corey Jarvis, Kenny Steeves (Sheila), Benjamin Hovey (Kathy), Megan Craig (Stephen), Matthew Hovey (Amanda), Penny Cooke (Rufus), Shawn Brooks (Dawn), Madison Dow, Emilee Morrell, Allison Morrell Logan Kehoe and Caleigh Kehoe; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at the St. John St. Stephen Nursing Home for their care for our mother.

In keeping with Doreen’s wishes, there will be no visitations. A Celebration of Life will be held at Gail and Terry’s home, 30 Bedell Road, Saint John, NB on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm. A private family interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. Remembrances in memory of Doreen may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
