It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Donna (Dawn) Dyer on May 5, 2026 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Dawn was born at Aroostook Junction, Victoria County, New Brunswick on December 13, 1940, to Stanley and Effice Grace (Jenkins) MacNally.
Dawn was a long-time member of RiverCross Church (formerly Main Street Baptist) where she served on various Boards and Committees including Strategic Planning, Deacons and Christian Education. She was instrumental in starting Alpha and Life Group Ministry. Dawn also served her community through her work on the Boards of CMHA and Independence Plus.
Dawn was a lifelong learner, teacher and mentor having earned a BA in Theology followed by a diploma from the School of Nursing at Eastern Maine General Hospital. Having moved to Saint John in the early 1970s, she practiced her profession first as a nurse on the general surgery unit at the Saint John General Hospital and later as a charge nurse in long term care. She was dedicated to her work and family.
Dawn is survived by her son Peter Dyer (Shelley Piercy) of Fredericton; Joy Mitton (Todd) of Cambridge, ON; her grandchildren Ashley, Aaron, and Ryan; her sister Bonnie McCrea and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents she was predeceased by her brothers Gregory and Rory MacNally and her brother-in-law Graydon McCrea.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. (506-646-2424). Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11th from 12:00 noon until 2:00pm, followed by a Celebration of Life in the Fundy Funeral Home chapel at 2:00pm.
Interment to take place at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
