Donald "Don" Anthony McNeil

It is with great sadness that the family announce the death of Donald “Don” Anthony McNeil of Saint John who passed away at home on Friday, August 4, 2023.  Born in Saint John, June of 1931, Don was a son of the late Stephen and Agnes (Stack) McNeil and husband of the late Valerie (McKee) McNeil. 

Don retired from Irving Paper and enjoyed over 30 years of retirement.  Don was an avid fisher and hunter and lived for times at his hunting camp on the East Branch.  Besides his hunting camp, he enjoyed getting out fishing in the Sussex area with his friends from the Pine Cone Campground. 

He is survived by his son Mark (Patrick), brothers Michael and David (Linda) both of Saint John, several nieces, nephews, and friends.  Along with his parents and loving Wife, four brothers predeceased Don: Francis, Wallace, Joseph, and William McNeil and four sisters: Mary McNeil, Theresa McNeil, Margaret Doucet, and Elizabeth Gillis.

To honor Don’s request there will be no visitation.  Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 1:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Saint John Food Bank, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
