Della Marie Christina (Frenette) Mayes

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Della Marie Christina Mayes, surrounded by her family, on Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 76. Born in Saint John, NB on November 4, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Leo Frenette and Lena Aubé.

Survived by her loving husband Gary Mayes of 55 years, children Jason Mayes (Robin Sexton-Mayes), Jeffrey Mayes; grandchildren Patrick and Caroline; siblings Leona Ryan (Paul), Phyllis (Gerald Withers), Pamela (Tony Sheehan), Denise Donovan (Mark Langille) and Margo Banks (Mike); special friend Karen Pedersen as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. 

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Joseph "Gus" Frenette and Paul Frenette.

Della will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, a gracious hostess always welcoming anyone who would come and visit. Della was noted for her baking, in particular her pies and cookies. She was an avid reader, loved doing crossword puzzles, and watching American Idol. 

Della had worked for the RCMP as a stenographer, Hoppers Electrical Company and with the Bureau of Pension Advocates with Veterans Affairs. 

Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (506-646-2424). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, from 2 - 4 pm & 6 - 8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025, at 11 am in the funeral home chapel.
