It is with great sadness that the family of Debra ‘Debbie’ Anne O'Brien, loving companion of the late Thomas Lockerbie, announce her passing which occurred on September 25, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Sydney, NS, January 29, 1957, she was the daughter of the late John 'Jack' and Frances (MacLeod) O'Brien.

Debbie moved to Saint John in the late 70’s and began a dedicated career with NBTel/Aliant that lasted over 38 years. Upon retirement, she spent her time enjoying the company of the love of her life, Tom. She also enjoyed having long conversations with her mother and sisters; but above all, “Nanny Debbie” cherished her play dates with her beautiful granddaughters, Rey and Charlee.

She is survived by her son Brandon Lockerbie, daughter Tara (Nick McCaustlin), brothers; Bernie, Ottawa, ON. and Shaun (Ellen Matthews), Sydney, NS., sisters; Jacqueline (Scott) Burton, Sydney, NS., Brenda (David) Wall, Sydney, NS., Erin, London, ON., Susan, New Hampshire, Joanne (Mike Cubberley), London, ON., granddaughters; Rey McCaustlin and Charlee McCaustlin, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and Tom, Debbie was predeceased by her brother David.

She will be deeply missed by her neighbours Bill and Mary Murphy, Donna and Booter Langille, the Marshalls, close family friends the Malletts and the Paiges, as well as Crystal and Zac.

Debbie wished to thank Jackie for their weekly chats and Brenda for their long-distance happy hour, both of which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Debbie's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Bernie and Jackie, Dr. Mackin, and everyone on the Palliative Unit for the comfort and care they provided.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (506-646-2424). At her request following cremation, there will not be any visiting or a funeral service. Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
