It is with great sadness, yet gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Dawn Darlene Steeves, cherished wife of Douglas Steeves announces her peaceful passing which occurred on Monday, January 22, 2024 at the Loch Lomond Village. Born in Saint John on September 13, 1941 and raised in Fredericton, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie Boyd.
Dawn spent many years with working as an Administrator within the Real Estate industry. Following this, she cherished her days spent being around the public working at Peoples Jewelry in Loch Lomond Mall.
Dawn was devoted to her family, friends and lending a hand to those in need. She believed in the importance of being of service and being involved in our community. Over the years, Dawn was involved with the Minor Hockey Association, volunteered as a greeter welcoming cruise ship passengers to the city of Saint John and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society.
Dawn enjoyed several trips which were enjoyed with close friends, especially taking bus tours to New York City. She loved her summers spent with family and friends at Pine Cone trailer Park in Sussex, N.B.
She will always be remembered as the life of the party, someone that always looked forward to having a good time but more importantly making sure that everyone else was having a better time as well.
Above all, Dawn was a lady of faith and was a dedicated member of Silver Falls United Church. She served the church in many capacities including church secretary for many years.
Along with Doug, her loving husband of 60 years, Dawn is survived by her 3 children; Dana (Doug) Thompson, Dannie (Jane) Steeves and Darren (Julia) Steeves. She will be remembered by her 3 grandchildren; Nicholas, Matthew and Caroline who were the apple of her eye.
In addition to her parents, Dawn is also predeceased by her brothers Darrel and Donald Boyd along with her stepmother Mary (Hewey) Boyd.
Our family wishes to express our sincere thanks to the staff and volunteers of the Loch Lomond Village for the care and compassion shown towards Dawn during her stay.
