Dawn Marie Butler

Dawn Marie Butler (Thibault), age 92, of Ottawa, Ontario, formerly of Saint John, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa, surrounded by her loving family.

Dawn was born on August 15, 1933, in Saint John, NB, to the late George Thibault and Agnes Robichaud. She graduated St. Vincent High School 1950 and Mount Carmel 1951. She married Arthur Butler (D July 18, 1990) in May 1954. Dawn later enjoyed a career with the Bank of Nova Scotia before retiring. In 1998 she married her second husband, Vincent “Buddy” Butler (D Nov 2015 ). In Feb 2023 she moved to Ottawa to live with her daughter Susan and to be closer to her great-grandchildren.

Dawn is survived by her children: Patricia Eagles (Bruce) and grandchildren Lynn and Ann (Sheri); Susan Butler and grandchildren Amanda Taggart, greats Lily and Ashley, Joanne Frost (Chris) and greats Ethan and Emma, Micheal Taggart (Heather) and greats Briar and Logan, Lizz Chartier (Matty) and greats Nora and Cole, Anthony Butler (Joanne) and granddaughter Meghan Bouffard (Robert) and step-great Adeline and Odette, and Robert “Bob” Butler (Jennifer) and grandchildren Benjamin Butler (Connie), Nicole Butler (Jon) and Danielle Butler (Samantha).

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (506-646-2424). Family and friends will be received on Sunday, February 1st, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 2nd at 11:00 AM at Holy Redeemer Parish, 316 Somerset St, Saint John, NB.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the IWK Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
