David Ronald Edward Durant

David Durant of Saint John, passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday August 9, 2020. Born in Saint John January 13, 1946, he was the son of the late Stanley and Edith (Levigne) Durant. David was an Iron Worker for over 40 years, a long-time member of Local #842 who worked all over Canada but primarily in New Brunswick . He was a member of Stella Maris Catholic Church and the KOC Council # 8364. A true outdoors man; he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. In more recent years; he was known as a friendly face who visited McAllister Place every day where he would check his “scratchies”- lottery ticket . Devoted husband, father, proud grampy and brother. Those who knew and love him will miss him forever. David is survived by his son Trevor (Liz) of Rothesay, daughter Tanya Colwell (Phil) of Saint John; precious grandchildren Jeremy, Kyle, Taylor, Hailey (Josh) and Keenan; great-grandchildren Elise and Myles; siblings brothers Donald (Colleen) and John (Carole); sisters Theresa Smith, Donna Van Leeuwen (Nick), Margaret Sciefers (Bill), Betty Bosco and Jean Donaldson; brother-in-law Jim Orr; cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  Along with his parents, David was predeceased by his wife Ann (Crilley) Durant, daughter Kim Ward, brother Fred Durant, sisters Audrey Umgher and Dianne Orr.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 12, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Due to public health guidelines social distancing will be required. The funeral home staff will be available to assist in receiving of friends and to help guide visitors with social distancing regulations. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Stella Maris Catholic Church for private family only please. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
