David Arthur Wright Obituary

It is with immense sadness that the family of David Wright announce his passing on April 1, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, after a long battle with cancer.    Dave is survived by his soulmate and wife of 37 years, Debbie of St. Andrews NB; daughters Trisha Wright of Dartmouth NS, Jenna Seely-Wright (Taylor) of Fredericton NB; siblings Kathie, Rob (Sue), Laurie (Jeff), Jamie, John (Debbie), and Chris (Amanda), all of Ontario; and brother-in-law Michael (Lorraine) of Saint John NB. He will be missed by many - including nieces and nephews, friends (including Gerry Lizmore of London ON, Brian and Sheila Kerr of Saint John NB, and Gordie Cook of St. Stephen NB), clients, and the cats (he claimed to be a dog person, but Buddy and Bella had other plans). He is predeceased by his parents Sylvia and Robert Wright, best friend Dwight Shaw, and the Ludwig’s dog, Nacho - whom he adored.

Dave had a life long love affair with Tony’s panzerotti, two-inch prime rib steaks, camero Z28’s, and classic rock. He loved to bang on the drums, go to concerts, and dance the night away with whoever was willing. If there was a problem, you can be sure that he could find the 1-800 number to solve it. He excelled at making pancakes for his daughters (only the tiny ones), passing as a Dale Earnhardt look alike, and helping people - whether it was home renovations for his local contracting business in St. Andrews, or helping someone stuck on the side of the road, despite going through chemotherapy treatments at the time. He was a quiet man who had a massive heart.

Dave took fashion cues from no one. His signature look was comprised of “free” beer box t-shirts, concert tees, jeans, and a bright orange toque. He did have some pretty cool sunglasses, and was a devotee to the Canadian tuxedo.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John. In lieu of flowers, Dave’s family would be grateful if you could donate to the Charlotte County Cancer Society - and would love if you could do a random act of kindness in Dave’s name. We also ask you to raise a glass, enjoy something delicious, and play something LOUD (we suggest some Eddie Money in dad’s honour). Due to covid restrictions and personal wishes, we will be holding a celebration this summer for a life well lived, and a person loved by all. We hope you’ll join us.
