David Ross MacPherson
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Dad, David Ross MacPherson, who died on June 23 at the age of 81 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, following complications from Parkinson’s disease.
David was predeceased by his loving wife, Ida Mae. He leaves behind his children Amy (Matt), Lilah (Zackary and Sam), Brenda (Jaron, Shane, and Justin), and Jason; his devoted dog Honey; his brothers Ken (Jane) and Brenton; his sister Sharon Arbeau; and many cherished friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews.
David was, above all, a lover of nature and animals. He found deep joy in gardening, bird-watching and walking in the woods with his dogs and loved ones. His appreciation for the natural world shone through in his passion for photography, a lifelong hobby that captured his deep reverence and respect for the planet.
He was a man of many roles—store operator (Maggie’s Market), beekeeper, Scout leader, electrician, mushroom forager, and proud steward with the Nature Trust of New Brunswick. David was a humanitarian at heart; his love of travel paired well with his strong desire to help others. He valued community and connection, finding joy in bringing people together around a shared purpose.
David was also a proud and active member of the United Church of Canada, and he considered the members of the Two Rivers Pastoral Charge and his fellow IBEW members to be extended family.
A lover of music, art, literature, photography, ice cream, Glenfiddich and Cuban rum, David embraced life fully and shared that joy generously with those around him.
We are deeply grateful to his friends, neighbours, loved ones and wonderful caregivers for their unwavering support. We extend special thanks to the staff of Concorde Hall and the Saint John Regional Hospital for their compassionate care during his final days.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at Summerville United Church on Friday, June 27th @ 1pm, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to join us in remembering and honouring his life. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Parkinson Society Canada https://www.parkinson.ca or to the Nature Trust of New Brunswick. https://www.naturetrust.nb.ca/en/home/
