David Furlong

It is profound sadness and heartbreak that the family of David Furlong announce his passing on March 26, 2026. Surrounded by his loving wife of 72 years, Eileen and his family, David passed away peacefully at Rocmaura Nursing Home.

Besides Eileen, he is survived by his daughters; Donna (Philip) Bettle and Diana (Grayden) Whipple. His grandchildren; Krista (Scott) Nelson, Andrew (Michelle) Bettle, Jaclyn (Stephen) Lo and Keith (Mallory) Whipple. And his great-grandchildren; Chloe, Carter, Rhett, Lauren, Harper, Evan and Josie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  David was predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Edward Furlong, his sisters Beatrice and Kathleen and his brother Edward.

Papa, as he was known to most, was the best one we could have asked for. They broke the mold on our Papa. He never missed a game, competition or tournament. His family was, by far, his proudest accomplishment. But a close second would have been the years spent running Dave’s Quik Mart in Willow Grove.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (506-646-2424).  Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, March 31st, from 4-7 PM.  A Funeral Liturgy will take place on Wednesday, April 1st, at 10:00 AM in the Fundy Chapel.  Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery.  For those that wish, memorial donations in lieu of flowers to the Rocmaura Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
