It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of David Steven Chambers that occurred at his home on Oct 28, 2023. Born February 2, 1966, in Toronto, Ontario, he is the son of the late Florence and William Chambers. Along with his parents, David was predeceased by his brother Murray.
David is survived by his loving and devoted wife Karen of 31 years; Brothers Sydney Chambers (Krista), Billy Chambers, and Sister Susan Chambers-Straub, Uncle Mike Hogan (Lorri), and many nieces and nephews. In-laws Lynn Gibson (Ken), Jane Thorne, Greg Barry (Rose). His second family, his “Big Brother” Danny McMurray, Peggy, Kevin, Lesley and many lifetime friends.
David battled cancer for over 9 years, after 7 years the cancer had spread to his brain, had radiation and got rid of the tumors, 11 months ago Dave got brain cancer again the tumors came back. Dave was a strong person both mentally and physically to keep going on with life through all the ups and downs with battling this horrible disease.
David worked at Atlantic Towing Ltd. and at Department of Transportation for many years. He opened a successful restaurant Dave’s Seafood and Subs and was also known as “The Pie Guy” by many. He loved cooking but his greatest passion was being outdoors working hard at his cherished garden and taking breaks with a weak drink of vodka. Dave has a big heart and loved everyone and was also known as “Shrek” because of his good looks.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). As per Dave’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of David may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Bobby’s Hospice, Alzheimer’s Society, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
