It is with great sadness the family of David Allison Blount, loving husband of 45 years to Margaret (Mitchell) Blount, announce his passing which occurred on January 30, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on July 19th, 1952, he was the son of the late Cyril and Jennie Viola (Brooks) Blount.
David spent over 20 years working at the Dry Dock as a boiler maker. He thought the world of his family and enjoyed joking around with his grandchildren. David loved to instigate and tease his grandchildren and go for walks out back to look at old smokey or the infamous bus. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed feeding his pet crow and the neighbourhood cats.
David will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, great friend and neighbour.
Along with his wife, David is survived by his 3 sons; Trevor (Crystal), Shane (Christine), Dana (Jenn), his daughter; Melissa (Kevin), brother; Norman (Florence) and sisters; Pam and Nancy. His 11 cherished grandchildren; Austin, Kolby, Connor, Jaylyn, Reilly, Cheylynn, Shane Jr., Kamerin, Cohen, Makynli , Mason and his step-grandchildren. As well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his brother Douglas and sister Barbie.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff of 5CN and to Christine from the Extra Mural Program for their care and compassion shown towards David and our family during his stay.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, with visitation being held on Wednesday, February 5th from the hours of 2-4 & 6-8pm. A Private family interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s memory may be placed to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of donor’s choice.
