Daniel Robert Mitchell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel Robert Mitchell, loving husband of 40 years to Deborah Mitchell, which occurred at his residence on Tuesday, March 31, 2020. He was born in St. Stephen, NB on April 12, 1955 to the late Hazen (Bud) and Marjorie Lee (Pendleton) Mitchell and lived most of his life on Deer Island, N.B.  

Danny was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was very much loved by his family.  He enjoyed many things which included a love for all things technology related. He loved music, studying the Bible and spending time with his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as their “Bampy”.  For most of his life he walked out his faith and dearly loved both his Lord’s Cove Church of Christ and The Harbour Christian Church families.  He was known in the Christian churches around the Maritimes for his beautiful singing voice.   

Danny worked for 37 years for the Department of Transportation on the Deer Island ferries, the majority of those years spent as a Marine Captain. 

Along with his wife, Daniel is survived by his children: Brandon (Cari) Mitchell, Shannon (Terry) Keefe and Justin (Desiree) Mitchell and ;and his brother Brian (Jackie) Mitchell. He is also remembered by grandchildren: Carter, Ethan, Jonah, Zoey, Cerah, Callum, Lyla, Drew and Chloe; and his nieces and nephew.  

In addition to his parents, Daniel is predeceased by his brother Michael Mitchell.  

Arrangements are entrusted to the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). In keeping with Daniel’s wishes, there will be a celebration of his life that will take place at The Harbour Christian Church at a date yet to be determined.

In his memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
