Daniel Adler Obituary

It is with love and remembrance that the family of Daniel Irving Adler announces his peaceful passing on March 18, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Born on January 19, 1944, in New York, USA, Dan was the son of the late Anna (Marshall) Adler-Freeman.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 59 years, Janet; his daughter Cathy (Tom); grandson Chris (Kristen); and great-granddaughter Mia. He is also survived by his brother David (Paulette); nephew Troy; cousins Joy, Dick, Gail, Pat, Pam, Terry Lou, Tommy, and Donnie; as well as many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his mother, Dan was predeceased by his cousins John and Jack, and his beloved dogs Danny Boy, Prince, Fang, and Sasha.

Dan dedicated many years of his career to the finance industry. He served as Manager of Trans Canada Credit across Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick before becoming Manager at Finance America. In January 1982, he began his long career with Irving Oil, where he worked in domestic credit, later becoming Credit Card Manager, and contributing to credit approval and recovery. He retired in November 2006 after 25 years of dedicated service.

Dan embraced life with a positive outlook, often reminding others, “Don’t worry about the things you have no control over.”

In his younger years, he was an avid soccer player. He found great joy in spending time with family and friends, whether camping, motorcycling, traveling, or enjoying country drives. He especially loved walking his dogs and bringing them along on family adventures.

Dan was an active member of the Kinsmen Club during his time in Yarmouth, NS, and Summerside, PEI. He also enjoyed recreational hockey and baseball with his Irving Oil colleagues in Saint John, NB, as well as curling and golfing in Digby, Yarmouth, Summerside, and with Royal Bank staff in Saint John.

He cherished time spent at the “old” farmhouse in Washademoak, NB, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, canoeing, bonfires, swimming, snowmobiling, and gatherings with loved ones.

Dan’s greatest passion was his family homestead in Bridgetown, NS, where he spent much of his childhood. It was there that he and Janet felt most at home, hosting family reunions and holiday celebrations. Many peaceful days were spent overlooking the gently flowing Annapolis River.

Dan treasured every moment with his family and friends. He was deeply loved and admired for his quick wit and warm personality, and he will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (506-646-2494). Visitation and a funeral service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dan’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
