Dale Campbell Obituary

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, grammy, sister, auntie, and friend to many, Dale Karen Campbell (Maxwell), who passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born in Sackville NB, on May 7, 1948, Dale was the daughter of the  late Harry and Mary Maxwell ( Etter).

Dale worked for many years in medical administration for several doctors in Saint John. Her years working in the medical field gave her an impressive knowledge of medicine and her own health gave her even more experience . She was affectionately dubbed “Dr. Dale” to many, as she had a remarkable ability to know about every ailment and symptom, and always  had a diagnosis to share - right up to this very week .

Dale had a warm personality, a quick wit and a generous heart, and she had a way of making people feel welcome and cared for. She had so many good memories of her days on Douglas Lake, road trips with her Brentwood friends, and card games with the girls. Dale was always up for fun and a good laugh, especially if there was good food and desserts involved. She had a talent for finding a good bargain and could never pass up a good sale, even if she didn’t need the item; if it was a good deal, it was probably coming home  with her .
She was known for her long stories - rarely ever getting to the point. She was forever losing or forgetting  something, whether it was her keys, purse, phone or something she had just put in the microwave.

Perhaps what she will be best remembered for is being the proudest Grammy to Alex, Sydney, Adam, and Sarah and Auntie to Jacob and Eliza. She was always ready to tell anyone who would listen about her grandchildren and nephew and niece’s accomplishments and adventures. Whether it was a school achievement, a new job, or travel plans. She was their biggest cheerleader and never missed an opportunity to boast about them.

Dale is survived by her daughter Karen Simon (David) and her son Al (Jennifer). Grandchildren Alex (Amanda), Sydney, Adam, and Sarah. Brother Scott Maxwell (Candice) and nephew and niece, Jacob and Eliza Maxwell. Dale  is also survived by her children’s father David Campbell.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Bewick  for all of the care and attention given to Mom throughout the years and to the Heart Function  Clinic at the SJRH. We would also like to thank  the nursing staff of 5CN and  especially Dr. Onasanya for the care and compassion this past week.
