It is with heavy hearts that the family of Cyril Leo “Chick” Hanlon announce his passing on Thursday, October 2, 2025. He is survived by his children: Peter (Patti nee Rogers) and Patricia (Alexandra Seaton); grandchildren: Matthew (Tracey nee Handrahan) and, Robert (Rachel VanWart); great-grandchildren: Lennox, Xavier, Everleigh, Walter and Hugo; siblings: Doreen Marcon, Anne McNamara (Mike), Patrick (Sharron nee Bowes); sisters-in-law: Mary Charron (nee Sullivan), Mary Hanlon (nee Hourihan), Dorothy Hanlon (nee Lavigne), Doreen Sullivan (nee David)  and, Louise Sullivan (nee Gibson) many nephews, nieces and; grandnieces & nephews.

Born, July 25, 1931, on Elm Street in Saint John, N.B., he was the fourth of thirteen children of the late Edward and Eleanor (nee O’Neill) Hanlon. In addition to his parents, Cyril is predeceased by his wife Patricia (nee Sullivan); siblings: Gerard (Theresa nee Johnson), Connie Winchester (Vince), Mary Conway (Richard), Louis, Helen Vickers (Gerald), Paul (Eleanor nee Wood), Maurice (Pat nee Surette), James “Yankee” and Francis “Butch”; parents in-law: Thomas and Josephine (nee Black) Sullivan; brothers & sisters-in law: Donny, Carmel Wallace (Lloyd), Louis Charron, Joanne, Thomas “Tim” and John.

When asked what he wanted as an obituary, typically he said, it should simply say: “He Lived. He Died.”  We thought to add that he loved, was loved and he will be missed.

Cyril met Pat at Taffy Tom’s on July 3, 1949. She was the love of his life. They were married just shy of 70 years when Pat passed on May 26, 2023. They are now re-united.

Our family would like to express our thanks to the staff at Turnbull, for their loving care for both Cyril and Patricia through their final years.

Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home. Following Cyril’s wishes there will be no visitation. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Parish, 136 Somerset Street on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 10:00am. ADT.
