Colleen Gertrude Hoyt

The family of Colleen Gertrude (Kelly) Hoyt announces her passing on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Born in Saint John, NB on November 17, 1935, Colleen was the daughter of the late S. Roy Kelly and Gertrude (Cullinan) Kelly. Colleen was one of the five Kelly girls, who shared a wonderful bond that lasted a lifetime.

Colleen graduated from St. Vincents High School and from the Halifax Infirmary as a Medical Records Librarian, a field she loved greatly. Colleen left her career to raise her family and when her children were older, she worked for many years at Saint John Hydro from where she retired.

Colleen is survived by her children Len (Tammy), Patrick (Jeannie), Kerry (Mark Pottle) and Christopher, her grandchildren Jason (Mandy) Hoyt, Jennifer (Dave) Nicolle, Emma Hoyt, Adam Pottle, Alex Rice-Hoyt, Adrian Pottle, Ella Hoyt, Anna Hoyt and Jillian Hoyt, her loving sisters Patty Coughlan and Susan (Tommy) Malone, as well as great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Colleen is also survived by Patrick’s stepchildren Erin Maguire and Emily Maguire. Colleen was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law Frances and Greg Horgan, Joanne and Frank Connelly, and brother-in-law Richard Coughlan.

A special thanks to the staff at Kindred Home Care and Chateau Champlain for their kindness over the last number of years. Also, heartfelt thanks to Colleen’s niece, Beth Horgan, who visited often and brightened her days.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (506-646-2424).  In keeping with Colleen's wishes cremation has taken place and private family services will take place at a later date.  Donations to Romero House would be greatly appreciated by the family.
