It is with broken hearts that the family of Clinton Edward Speight, loving husband of Sandra (Gaudet) Speight, wish to announce his passing which occurred on September 4, 2023, after a period of declining health, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, February 3, 1942, he was the son of the late Lorne E. And Marion (Gray) Speight.
He was a 35-year veteran of the Saint John Fire Department retiring with the rank of Captain. He had lived in Browns Flat most of his adult life where he was instrumental in establishing the Browns Flat Volunteer Fire Department. He not only volunteered, where he also trained countless volunteer members over the years. He was also very active with the Greenwich Recreation Centre. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, wood carving, playing the banjo and restoring cars.
Besides his beloved wife Sandra, he is survived by his precious daughters; Lana (Peter Ryan), Avanda Wood (Stephen) and Lenna (Joe Johnson), his grandchildren; Danielle, Natasha, Victoria, Hilary and Patrick, great-grandchildren; Jamison, Esme and Wesley, along with his nieces, Tracey and Susan, and nephew Travis Speight.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Albert and Bernie Speight, and his sister Marina Meehan.
Clinton's family would like to express their genuine thanks to Dr. Christian Mackin (Palliative Care) and to the nursing staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424), with visitation on Friday, September 8, 2023, from 2-4 and 6-8pm. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11:00am from Fundy Chapel, followed by cremation. Remembrances made to the Operation Smile Canada, the Shriners Hospital for Sick Children or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
