Clifford (Ian) MacDonald

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Clifford “Ian” MacDonald, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather.

Ian shared nearly 60 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Linda MacDonald (Brown). Together they built a life founded on love, laughter, unwavering support, and a deep commitment to one another.

For more than 50 years, Ian was a proud member of Ironworkers Local 842. As a structural steel ironworker, he travelled throughout Canada, helping to build countless projects while earning the respect of those who worked alongside him. He took tremendous pride in his trade and the work he accomplished. Following his retirement from ironworking, Ian continued serving his community as a Commissionaire at the Picadilly Mine Site.

While Ian was dedicated to his career, his greatest accomplishment and deepest source of pride was his family. He was the loving father of Allison MacDonald and Bruce MacDonald (Michelle), and a proud grandfather to Alexander and Hayley Lynn (Zach), whose lives and accomplishments brought him endless joy. Ian was also a cherished great-grandfather to Xavier, Memphis, Nova Lynn, Jada, and Faith. Each held a special place in his heart and brought him immeasurable happiness.

Ian shared a close and lasting bond with his younger sister, Cathy (Stan), and his youngest brother, Jeff (Polly), relationships he deeply valued throughout his life.

He leaves behind his beloved mother, Vivian (Dit); his siblings David (Susan), Donald (Connie), Robert (Marilyn), James (Nancy), Richard (Marie), Michael (Doreen), Scott (Sherry), and Janet (Mike), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Ian was predeceased by his father, Clifford Edwin MacDonald.

Those who knew Ian will remember a man of quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and remarkable generosity. He was someone who worked hard, loved deeply, and always put his family first. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the friendships he cultivated, and the family he loved so dearly.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of 3DS, especially Becky and Sherry, for the exceptional compassion and care they provided to Ian during his time there. They would also like to extend their sincere appreciation to the dedicated staff of the Ridgewood Veterans Wing for the outstanding care, kindness, and dignity they showed him throughout his stay.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road. In keeping with Ian’s wishes there will be no visitation or service at this time. For those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ian may do so to the Ridgewood Veterans Wing
