It is with appreciation for a life well-lived and gratitude for many years of memories, that the family of Claire Constance Gormley, loving wife to the late Leo Patrick Gormley, announce her passing which occurred on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born October 18, 1927 in Charlottetown, PEI, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Mary Gallant.
Claire was a life member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL).
Claire will be missed by her children; Nancy Lee Parker (Paul), Mary-Claire (Gary Gregg) and her only grandson Matthew Ross Parker. She is also survived by her siblings; Marjorie Wilson, Dorothy (Frank Connor) and Jackie (Norman Bordage), sister in-law Ann-Marie Anderson, brother in-law Frank Gormley (Esther) and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Claire is predeceased by her sisters; Madeline (Jack McNamara) and Pearl (Pat McMurray), sister in-law Mary-Clare Gormley, brother in-laws; Gordon Wilson, Ian Anderson, Gerald Gormley (Marty), Joseph Gormley (Carm), Dick Gormley (Mary), Paul Gormley.
Our family wishes to thank the staff of Garden Court of Rocmaura Nursing Home for their care and compassion both shown to Claire and our family throughout her stay.
Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). In keeping with Claire’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
A private celebration of Claire’s life will take place at a later date, with interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
