Catherine Elizabeth Jones

It is with heavy hearts the family of Catherine (Carney) Elizabeth Jones, loving wife of the late Ronald M. Jones, announces her passing which occurred on Thursday, March 31st, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB on February 1st, 1944, she was the youngest daughter of the late John and Florence (Stevens) Darrah. With her husband Ron Jones, she owned and operated Jones Locksmith & Sharpening Service for over 25 years. She sold the business in 1998. In the past, she was a member of the Order of the Royal Purple Auxiliary of the Elks Lodge and the Order of the Ladies Glade of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffalos. She was a sports enthusiast and an avid reader. She loved nothing more than her family; especially being Nana J to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favourite place to be was at her home on Treadwell Lake.

Carney will be deeply missed by her children: Beth (Doug) Shaw, Jean Thibodeau, Susan (Tony) Cobham, John Cobham (son Tevin), Marie Farnsworth and Larry Furlotte; numerous grand children and great grandchildren; her sisters, Joan Johnston and Mary Morris; special friend June Voutour; as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers John, Gerald and James & sisters Patricia, Eileen, and Helen Marie. Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). There will be no visitation or funeral service.  A private graveside service will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.  Donations in memory of Carney may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Ashley Wood and the staff of 3CS from the Saint John Regional Hospital for all the care and compassion shown to Carney.
