It is with great sadness, heavy hearts, and disbelief that the friends of Carmel Louise Davis of Campbellton, New Brunswick, and currently resided in Saint John, announce her unexpected passing, which occurred on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. Born in Campbellton, New Brunswick, on May 30, 1958, to the late George and Marjorie Davis, at the age of 68.
Carmel loved her New Brunswick heritage, specifically her North Shore roots, and often spoke of her gratitude for the manner in which her parents raised her and for the time she grew up in.
She was a fun loving, caring person to everyone she came in contact with over the years, a lot of the time being the life of the party. She enjoyed life to the fullest. Her dedication, compassion, and commitment to others will never go unnoticed by all who knew her through friendship and her career.
Carmel was a well educated and smart lady throughout her life, right up till her final day. When you made friends with her, you were a friend for life.
When she returned home for visits, she always enjoyed her time with her family (the “Whites”) and spending time in Campbellton to be with and care for her Mother, Father, and Brother, George Henry, in their final days before their passing.
She is now rejoicing with them and all the other Angels that went before her.
Carmel devoted her entire career caring for the public by becoming a Registered Nurse after high school and Nursing School, just like her Mom.
She held many positions throughout her career in Campbellton and the Restigouche region: Bathurst, Moncton, Calgary AL, Saint John, and finally in Grand Bay-Westfield until retirement, enjoying a simple life in Saint John.
Carmel graduated from Restigouche Regional High School 50 years ago this year, servicing in both official languages in New Brunswick, and was so looking forward to attending her upcoming High School reunion on July 4th of this year and reuniting with so many classmates, current and previous, with that same fun loving, spirited, social butterfly attitude which she was very well at.
She loved to travel while on vacation, having adventures and making more friends along the way outside of New Brunswick, in the United States, Mexico, Cuba, and especially being on a beach during sunrises and sunsets.
She had so many hidden talents outside of her working days, including Majorettes, her travels, and mentoring others in so many ways. She was an avid reader of books of many subjects and authors right up till her final days.
Carmel cultivated a broad circle of friends during her life, which she had great adventures with, including work, travel, and social outings. She also carefully maintained a smaller, intimate circle of friends she treasured and maintained contact with to her final days. I trust everyone will know the special role they played in her life, and who they were. She treasured and took great pleasure from the simple conversations, dinners, sharing memories, and having some good times and laughs.
She also loved being spoiled by her friends, who happily hosted her at their homes and cottages for special visits and events that she looked so forward to. Those who knew Carmel well knew she was a genuine person with a gentle soul and great depth of sincerity. Again, they know who they are and how she loved them, and I am confident that she will be very much missed. There is no greater example of her special friendships than that she shared with Joe and Kevin Harleywood. Carmel was entirely confident and secure in their steady love and support they shared, which spanned 35 years, up to and including her very last day on this Earth. Also very special friend Andrew Whelton and his son Chase, whom she adored.
We all wanted more but are all grateful for the time we had.
Carmel is survived by family in Campbellton, Fredericton, and Bathurst. Also survived by so many friends (to many to mention) in Campbellton, Bathurst, Restigouche Region, the North Shore, Quebec, Moncton, Shediac, Saint John, Grand Bay-Westfield, and abroad. I am sorry if I have missed anyone.
She is predeceased by her father, George; her mother, Marjorie; and brother, George Henry.
As per her own request, cremation has taken place with no public visitation to follow.
