It is with profound sadness that the family of Bruce Wayne Getson announces his passing on Monday, June 23, 2025, at the age of 74. Born in London, Ontario, on September 8, 1950, Bruce was the beloved son of Phyllis Tuplin and the late Keith Getson.
Bruce was a biker to the bone—ever since he could walk, he had the soul of a man meant for the open road. The roar of the engine and the wind on his face weren’t just passions—they were a way of life. Over the decades, Bruce rode with pride in several respected clubs and eventually found his final brotherhood with the Soulless Soldiers Motorcycle Club (SSMC), where he proudly rode until he retired. His loyalty, spirit, and love for the road made him a legend among his brothers. L&R – Always.
In his early years, Bruce worked as a welder, a job that suited his strong hands and hardworking grit. But his legacy goes beyond trade and title. Bruce was a born agitator—he loved a good debate, wasn’t afraid to ruffle feathers, and always stood firm in his beliefs. But just as loud as his bark was, so too was his compassion. He was a man with a big heart, loyal to the core, and always willing to lend a hand or speak a truth.
Bruce is survived by his loving mother Phyllis Tuplin; his children: Debra Jean “Baba” Stevens of Saint John and Bruce Getson Jr. of Spruce Grove, AB; stepdaughter Jennifer (Ken) of Fort Saskatchewan; and his devoted companion Karen of Saint John.
He also leaves behind his brothers: Brian Getson, Calvin Getson (BC), Gary Getson (Cathy), Nelson Getson (Carolyn), all of Saint John, and Danny Tuplin of PEI; grandchildren: Mikey Arthurs, Cody Arthurs, and Kinsley Ring; great-grandchildren: Joey and Eli Arthurs; as well as a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Bruce’s chosen family was just as important to him. He will be deeply missed by his best friend Mike (Stephanie) and their daughter Octavia, along with close friends George, Ernie, and Tommy. His cats—Jax, Emma, and Sam—were his quiet companions at home, always close by.
He was predeceased by his father Keith Getson, sister Carol Steeves, Godson Kenny Steeves, brother Larry Getson, and stepfather Gordie Tuplin.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Groom, Dr. Mackin, and the Extra-Mural Program for their compassion and support in Bruce’s final days.
As per Bruce’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation or funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Latimore Lake Community Centre, 615 Latimore Lake Rd on Saturday, July 5th from 1:00-4:00 p.m., where family, friends, and fellow riders can come together to share stories, raise a glass, and remember a man who rode hard, lived free, and left his mark on everyone he met.
In memory of Bruce, donations can be made to the SPCA – Animal Rescue or to a charity of your choice.
“Kickstands up, brother. Ride free, forever.”
