It is with heavy hearts that the family of Brian Burton Arthurs announces his passing, which occurred on Friday, July 18th, 2025 in Saint John, New Brunswick. Born in Saint John on September 15, 1948, he was the son of the late Burton and Alice "Lillian" (Clarke) Arthurs.
Brian will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife and best friend of 53 years, Betty (MacAlpine) Arthurs. He was a proud and caring father to his two sons, Timothy and Matthew (Nicole), who brought great pride and joy into his life. He is also survived by his cherished siblings: Gary (Diane) Arthurs and Joanne (Frank) Vincent, and by his extended family of in-laws, who were dear to him: Christine MacAlpine, Janet Kenny (the late Ron), Kathleen Gourley (the late Stephen), David MacAlpine (Ruth Ann), and Marion MacAlpine (the late Charles). Brian will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, and many friends whose lives he touched with kindness and humility.
Over the years, Brian worked in a variety of roles but was most widely known for his 25 dedicated years with Willett Fruit Company. Afterward, he enjoyed working at Eddie Bauer and concluded his working years with Irving Oil, where he remained until his retirement. In each role, he was known for his reliability, friendly nature, and quiet work ethic.
Brian’s faith was the foundation of his life. A long-time member of Forest Hills Baptist Church, he took great joy in being part of the Men’s Bible Study Group and sharing in fellowship with others. Even in his final days, his unwavering belief gave him peace — often saying “I’m ready to go” — comforted in the knowledge that his Lord and Saviour was waiting to welcome him home.
Above all, Brian’s greatest treasure was his family. Their love and support brought him strength, and their presence brought him joy. He was a faithful husband, a proud father, and a brother who stood by his loved ones with grace and quiet strength. His life was a testament to love, faith, and devotion.
