****************Due to the most recent announcement from Public Health reducing all of New Brunswick to the Orange Recovery Phase, all services for Brenda will now be held privately for family only.********************************
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brenda Louise Gallant-Butler on January 2, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Dalhousie, NB, on September 21, 1960 to Edna (Guitard) Gallant and the late Emile Gallant.
Brenda managed Reitman’s stores for many years and was later employed by Cendant RCI prior to her diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer. She succumbed to the disease after 3 courageous years. Through it all, it did not supress her devotion to her family, especially her children and husband, as well as her many dear friends. She was known for her strength, bravery and resilience, all while maintaining an infectious energy that would light up a room. She never missed the opportunity to reconnect with old friends. She was proud of recently connecting with lost relatives from Ontario.
Brenda loved to bake, quilt and knit. Friends and neighbours were recipients of her peanut butter balls, candy apples and knitted dish cloths. She knitted Christmas dish cloths for Bobby’s Hospice and Oncology staff until she was unable to do so. Brenda treated everyone like family and cared for so many including friends of her children. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to meet her.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Fred Butler; son Ryan and daughter Leah; brothers, Gary (Laura) and Randy (Dawn); sister, Cindy (Kevin) Rice; as well as several nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends.
Brenda was overwhelmed by the care and support, not only received from her family, but from special friends and neighbours. Her family would like to thank them as well as Extra Mural and the Oncology staff at the SJRH.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Due to public health’s pandemic restrictions, all services will be privately held, for family only. For those unable to attend today's service you are invited to watch online here at https://www.oneroomstreaming.com/view/authorise.php?k=161004667294120. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to Bobby’s Hospice or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by Brenda’s family.
