Bertha Catherine (Hawkes) Ferguson

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Bertha Catherine (Hawkes) Ferguson announces her passing. Bertha was born on June 10, 1933, in Stanley, N.B., and was predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Clara (Nolan) Hawkes; her beloved husband of 67 years, Joseph Guy Ferguson, and her sister Ann Marie (Hawkes) Bourque.

She is survived by her loving sister Carol (Hawkes) Steeves and her six devoted children: Kevin (Debbie) Ferguson, David (Kim) Ferguson, Christopher (Theresa) Ferguson, Terry Ferguson, Shawn (Joan) Ferguson, and Tanya (Rick) Allain.

Bertha will be deeply missed by her 13 cherished grandchildren — Josh, Adam, Ryan, Kyle, Curtis, Sarah, Kiersten, Nicholas, Kelsey, Victoria, Zachary, Renee, and Sarah — her 13 great-grandchildren, and her special family friend Jane D’Entremont, all of whom brought her endless joy.

A proud graduate of the Saint Joseph's School of Nursing, Class of 1954, Bertha dedicated much of her career to caring for others at The Ruth Ross Nursing Home, where her compassion and gentle spirit touched countless lives.

Bertha was a faithful Christian woman, steadfast in her beliefs and strong in her faith. She will be remembered for her kindness, devotion to family, and the grace with which she lived her life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. William O’Brien, Dr. Knight, Dr. Hemmings, and the thoughtful staff of 3BN and 5BS for their compassionate care and support.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bertha’s life at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) where visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm.  A funeral liturgy will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 1pm with interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  reception will follow, where stories and memories of Bertha will be shared with love and laughter.  For those who wish, memorial donations in Bertha’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
