On September 19, 2025, our hearts became heavy as we say goodbye to Barbara Marie Brown, a truly remarkable woman who was a guiding light in many lives. Born in Weymouth Falls, Nova Scotia on March 24, 1935, to the late Edward and Ethel (nee. Crawford) Smith.
Barbara will be dearly missed by her children Kimberley and Mark Brown; 10 grandchildren: James, Leanna, Phillip, Latoya, Khouri, Tiffany, Naomi, Skylor, Alexis, and Keynan; 11 great-grandchildren; two special nieces Eileen and Laura, whom she raised as her own from a very young age; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 40 years who she will be reunited with, Harry Jr. Brown; sons Terry and Tony; daughter Marlene; grandchild Fabian; brothers: Everette “Bus”, Ern, and Dirl; and sisters: Dora, Alberta, Maxine, Jean, and Lois.
Barbara was a woman who exuded a kind and comforting presence which allowed those around her to become the best version of themselves. With a heart made of pure gold, she helped anyone in need no matter the day or time. Barbara was a foster mother for many years looking after around 250 children, some of whom she adopted. She touched many people’s lives and left leaving a positive impression on them.
A big fan of music, and a massive fan of George Jones, Barbara loved being front and center during any live music event.
Barbara was an avid bingo player, playing as often as possible whenever she could.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Rocmaura, especially those on the Garden Court, for their exceptional care and kindness over the years. Barbara formed many friendships with residents and positively impacting their lives. Barbara’s family is grateful for the compassion shown by all during her stay.
